Ms. Cassil comes to the Department of State (DoS) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where she served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the FAA's Regions and Center Operations (ARC). In that position, she managed the Information Technology (IT) and communications support for nine FAA regions, located throughout the U.S., as well as a major FAA Support Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
 
Ms. Cassil began her IT career as an Administrative Data Processing (ADP) Intern within the Department of the Army, where she served for over 20 years in successive positions of increasing responsibility and leadership as an IT Manager. Her key Department of Defense (DoD) assignments included positions such as, Chief of Army Civilian Personnel Management Systems and Director of Information Technology for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civilian Personnel. Prior to joining the FAA in 2005, she served as the CIO and Deputy Chief of Staff for Information Management for the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC). As the ATEC CIO, she managed the technology and communications support for 10,000 employees, located in 26 installations across the continental U.S.
 
During her career, Ms. Cassil has received numerous commendations and awards for her effective leadership and management of complex technical projects for DoD. These include the Department of Army Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service, awarded by the Secretary of the Army, and the Army Superior Civilian Service Award.
